Trendsetter is excited to welcome R&B singer songwriter Jhené Aiko to the 2017 roster as part of our recent collaboration with Def Jam Recordings.
Jhené Aiko has dropped the new video for her summer single “While We’re Young.” The video displays Aiko as a woman with short-term memory loss and takes cues from the Adam Sandler cult classic 50 First Dates.

Los Angeles native Jhené Aiko grew up in a musical family and got her start in the early 2000s signing to Epic and singing backup vocals for the R&B group B2K. In 2011 she released her star-studded mixtape Sailing Soul(s) which featured icons like Drake, Gucci Mane, and Kanye West. 2013 was a pivotal year for Aiko, as she appeared on several chart-toppers including Big Sean’s “Beware” and Drake’s Nothing Was the Same. One year later, her single “The Worst” rose from three to one on the airplay Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop and in doing so she became the first female artist to top the chart as a lead with a debut single since 2008. Aiko is also known for her collaboration with Omarion and Chris Brown in the 2014 Billboard Hot 100 hit “Post to Be.”
Influenced by artists like Tupac, Brandy, and John Mayer, Jhené’s voice has been described as “the female answer” to Frank Ocean and “above the beat, sexy and aloof.” Stay tuned for her upcoming album due later this year.
