Multi-Grammy Award winning singer songwriter Chris Cornell was known for his pivotal role in the shaping of grunge music throughout the 90s. Before his passing last month, his distinct, powerful voice led bands like Soundgarden, Audioslave, and Temple of the Dog (a side project with Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder) until the end of his career. Alongside them, he released grunge staples like “Black-Hole Sun,” “Like a Stone,” and “Hunger Strike.” He ranks as 9th in the list of “Best Lead Singers of All Time” by Rolling Stone, and 12th in MTV’s “22 Greatest Voices in Music.” Eric Esrailian, producer of “The Promise” and co-manager for Survival Pictures, explained that Chris Cornell “wanted his video to be released on World Refugee Day, and he was passionate about helping people through this project. True to Chris’s charitable spirit, he made a commitment to donate all of his proceeds from The Promise to support refugees and children, and to further the conversation about the refugee crisis the world continues to endure.”
