Born in Nigeria, Ycee got his break in 2010 when Tinny Entertainment signed him as the label’s pioneer artist and he released his debut single, “Smile on Me.” On the fast paced grind of a new artist, he released two more singles featuring fellow Nigerian pop star, Mbryo, in 2013.
After a short break from music in 2014, Ycee returned in 2015 with major hits including “Condo,” which earned him nominations for “best music video of the year” and “best collaboration of the year” with reggae-dancehall singer-songwriter, Patoranking, at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
His mix of rap and pop shot his singles, “Jagaban,” “Jagaban Remix ft. Olamide,” and “Omo Alhaji,” to number one spots in Nigeria and around Africa. After earning nominations at both the 2015 African Music Awards and 2015 All African Music Awards, Ycee finished out the year with a bang, winning the “Rookie of the Year” award at the 2015 Headies.
His debut EP, “The First Wave” was released in collaboration with Sony Music Entertainment, and Ycee is now a celebrity ambassador for Samson Telecom and has an endorsement from Cognac brand, “Hennessy.”
Amassing over 183K Twitter followers, Ycee is an avid participant in the #wormfreezone movement and Project Get Naked, and works with charities providing support for various causes in Africa.
