Princess Nokia releases headstrong and playful single “Diva,” an ode to her confident self and the women that paved the way for her, highlighting icons from Britney to Aaliyah, as well as her heritage in Puerto Rico’s indigenous Taíno culture.
The video, directed by Robot MoonJuice, was shot in Puerto Rico and this Sunday, June 12, she will join the Working Families Party on their Puerto Rican Day Parade float, marching in solidarity with the Puerto Rican Sovereignty movement.
“Diva” follows the recent announcement of Princess Nokia’s latest acting role starring in the forthcoming film Daughter Of The Sea. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez highlighted the film this past weekend for exploring Taíno and AfroBoi identities.
“Diva” highlights the softer side to Princess Nokia’s multitudes, following recent single “No Effort” that heard a return to her brash roots. Earlier this spring, Princess Nokia made her triumphant return to Coachella, played a massive hometown Madison Square Garden performance with Haim, and featured on a benefit compilation album for Record Store Day alongside Taylor Swift. She also performed an awe-inspiring spoken word piece at the NYC abortion rights protest in support of upholding Roe V Wade.

Celine’s Spring/Summer ‘21 fashion show was set to her first-ever RIAA certified Gold single “I Like Him” after she collaborated with Celine’s iconic designer Hedi Slimane for the collection.
