Trendsetter is ecstatic to welcome the talented alt-pop duo Powers to the 2017 roster!
Republic Records’ Mike Del Rio and Crista Ru, the pop geniuses that make up Powers, have released the music video for the lead single “Dance” off their debut full length album Alpha. The track showcases the duo’s ability to combine poignant political messages with up-tempo dance beats. The Los Angeles-based New Yorkers first got their start as songwriters writing hit tracks like Selena Gomez’s “Birthday,” Kylie Minogue’s “Into the Blue,” Christina Aguilera’s “Make the World Move,” and Skylar Grey and Eminem’s “C’mon Let Me Drive.” The two have also toured in support with major bands such as DNCE and X Ambassadors, leading them to gain over 1.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Powers is extremely passionate about using their music to voice their stance on social and political issues, explaining in an exclusive interview with Nylon this past month that “As artists, it’s imperative that we speak up about what we see in the world, and to try to do something about it.”
