True Blood star, and former Cash Money artist, Janina Gavankar, re-imagines Martin Garrix’s EDM single “Don’t Look Down” featuring Usher, by returning to her roots. Janina, like superstar Sheila E before her, is a world class percussionist, and singer. Her vision and arrangement saw her amassing a 50 piece drum corps to turn this song on its head.

While in NYC shooting as Meredith Bose on NBC’s hit show The Mysteries of Laura, and with only a month to create the arrangement, track, and music video, Janina recruited The Jersey Surf, a renowned drum corps, to join the pursuit, and got to work producing the ambitious project between scenes on set and on weekends.
Janina’s acting credits are extensive, but some of the most memorable roles can be found below:
Luna Garza on HBO’s True Blood
Shiva – FX’s The League
McKenna Hall on CW’s Arrow
Papi in Showtime The L Word
Qetsiyah on the CW’s The Vampire Diaries
The New York Post might have put it best, describing Janina Gavankar as an “Audio schizo.” This proves true when you listen or watch the music/art pieces she’s released in the last few years. Knowing this, we shouldn’t be surprised that her next overtly ambitious offering includes a drum corps.
