The video was directed by Paul, Luc and Martin, the creative collective of french star Stromae under his Mosaert label,and produced by Phantasm.
“The idea was to laugh at ourselves and at the unconditional love we bear to our smartphones,”say the directors Paul, Luc and Martin of the video. “Humor and absurdity came naturally in ourspeech because our will was not to accuse someone or something but just exaggerate it to fosterreflection.”
“Run Up” has been streamed more than 200 million times to date and is climbing Spotify andradio charts globally. Rolling Stone praises the song’s “suave blend of high-pitched vocalsamples, warped guitar chords and a signature Caribbean groove.”
Furthermore, the band’s documentary Give Me Future, filmed at their historic 2016 show inHavana, Cuba, premiered earlier this year at Sundance to rave reviews and is set for release laterthis year.
