As lovelytheband prepares to release their third full-length album, if we’re being honest, the band reflects on where they were during the “broken” days and where they are now in their recent interview with Forbes. Despite spending 76 weeks on the Billboard Alternative Songs charts, breaking the record of longest run at 66 weeks on that chart, 44 Million views, and 500 global streams, the band wasn’t in the best headspace. Always being honest with themselves and their fans, opening up about mental health struggles were never something they shied away from speaking about.
Living in the shadow of such a massive song inherently created an unhealthy measurement of success and competition as they continued to write new songs. Fighting off the description as a ‘one-hit wonder’, the band has since come to terms with that phrase, and no longer consider it an insult, but rather a badge of honor. In 2023, with new songs having viral moments on the daily, bands with one massive song can leverage that success and ultimately go on to have longevity and lifelong careers. While many continue to label lovelytheband as a so-called ‘one-hit wonder’, the band has another global hit on their hands. The latest single “sail away” just hit #4 on the US Alternative Radio chart, the only independent release in the chart’s Top 10, and has amassed more than 20 Million streams globally.
Today, the trio releases their latest single, an anthemic track “make me wanna die” accompanied by a quirky music video, co-directed by Tanner Zagarino & Connor Brashier.
