Ohio singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Jetty Bones has released her new single “Nothing” along with a music video – directed by Mark Eshleman/Reel Bear Media (twenty one pilots) – which premiered today. When speaking to NYLON about the song and video, Jetty Bones (aka Kelc Galluzzo) shared the following:
I’m not sure I even have the words to adequately express how thrilled I was to finally work with my friend, Mark Eschleman of Reel Bear Media, on this video. After recording Push Back, Mark was the first person to hear the rough mixes. We sat in his living room and he immediately started visualizing the idea for this video when he heard the song. Almost a year later, we finally got to bring that idea to life. This song is about questioning whether you should keep fighting for something you love or let it fade away, all while contemplating the repercussions of either decision. There’s a harsh dichotomy between those two lives, but a connection in the pain. The record touches on that a lot, so Mark and Lindsey Byrnes (who I am blessed to call my creative director and friend) found such a beautiful way to represent that concept (and more). The team we had on set felt like an instant family. Bringing Kimmy Shields into the mix was a perfect addition – the positive energy and comic relief she brought to the shoot made the whole experience one I’ll always cherish. – Kelc Galluzzo
About Jetty Bones:
Push Back is the debut full-length record from Jetty Bones, the relentlessly hopeful alt-pop solo project of Ohio artist Kelc Galluzzo. The record’s 11 songs document Galluzzo’s wrestle between two selves: the one on stage espousing hope and love, and the one in the van after the show crying helplessly, living with depression, anxiety, impostor syndrome, and suicidal ideations. The record tracks Galluzzo’s reckoning with these two selves, willing them to meet where they can coexist.
Mixing alt-pop confection, indie rock jolt, acoustic melancholy, and even a stomp-and-clap bluegrass romp, Galluzzo worked alongside producer and mixer John Fields (Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus) to fully realize a set of bedroom recordings she had mapped out in 2019. “I started focused on my mental health, followed my own medicine, practiced what I preached, and actually took care of my brain. This record is more definitive of the project, because I was intentional with it. I worked through everything” says Galluzzo.
