How I Became the Bomb’s music video for “Ulay, Oh” quickly captivated the world with it’s enchanting love story of two star-crossed lovers whose paths crossed once again after decades of separation. Performance artist Marina Abramović famously presented a 736-hour-and-30-minute piece called The Artist Is Present, in which she remained seated at a table in New York City’s Museum of Modern Art, inviting spectators to come and sit opposite her. On opening night, “Ulay” surprised her. The once inseparable pair said their last goodbye in the 70s while walking the Great Wall of China and meeting in the middle for a final embrace. Their reunion at Abramović’s performance marked the first time the pair had seen one another in over 30 years.
How I Became the Bomb just played at MayDay Fest in Nashville and on only their second performance of 2015, it was noted by many as a highlight of the three-day, local music festival. The next day, an audience member posted the music video for “Ulay, Oh” to Reddit and the rest was history! The video quickly spread like wildfire, encompassing over 16 million videos in just two short weeks and has even gotten some love from celebrities such as Grey Anatomy’s Caterina Scorsone, MSNBC’s Chris Hayes and Comedian Ralphie May.
