With FN Meka, the future is now. FN Meka is the world’s first A.I. powered robot-rapper and the most famous virtual influencer on TikTok with over 9.1 million followers. Aside from releasing his own music, he is turning the one-of-a-kind items from his feed into NFTs. His viral content generates billions of views, and now posts that feature fantasy items like a Gucci Cybertruck or an Airpod Shotgun are being turned into rare crypto-collectibles.
The first of these virtual drops was the “SUPER TOILET” – a 1-of-1 Lamborghini styled porta-potty, designed by RTFKT, was sold on high-end digital art auction house SuperRare. Acclaimed Dutch DJ Don Diablo, who himself has had massive success selling his own musical NFT’s, beat out several other bidders to purchase the toilet for 4 ETH ($6500).
He released his debut single “Speed Demon” via next-gen record label, Factory New. Powered by Vydia, the distributor provides a platform for his label, which lives in a dimension somewhere between the human world and the virtual world, empowering not only these unique creators, but the teams behind them.
Roy LaManna, co-founder and CEO of Vydia, spoke with The Daily Beast on how larger-than-life artists are basically just caricatures of themselves. He compares virtual artists like FN Meka to Tekashi69:
“I think that he’s the epitome of what we’re talking about here. He’s kind of like a meme,” LaManna says. “The music, primarily in the early days, was co-written or ghostwritten by his producer. There’s Daniel Hernandez, who is the real guy and then there’s the Tekashi character, which is almost a cartoon-like character that has people compelled and drawn into his storyline. So, the question is whether or not Daniel Hernandez’s character Tekashi69 could exist in a virtual space, and I think Anthony and his team are proving that the answer is yes.”
Virtual influencer, AR sneakerhead, and robot rapper – MEKA’s lifestyle blends eclectic with electric. When not flexing his augmented reality fashion sense, MEKA crafts his next Soundcloud single. His early tracks “Moonwalkin’” and “Internet” quickly gained hundreds of thousands of streams, motivating Meka to make music full-time.
His custom gadgets like a Starbucks espresso-making PS5, or his Gucci Cybertruck are expressions of him living his best life. Sometimes his “hyper flexing” can trigger internet trolls, so FN Meka is no stranger to cyberbullying, which he uses his influence to fight against. Meka is also a fierce advocate for equal rights, believing that no being should be discriminated against because of skin color, or just because they’re a robot.
