California natives Echosmith have been making waves in the music world since their 2014 multiplatinum single “Cool Kids” which reached number 13 on the Billboard Top 100 and became Warner Bros. Records’ fifth-biggest-selling-digital that year. Aside from performing the Vans Warped Tour for several years, Echosmith has shared stages with acts like Owl City, Twenty One Pilots, and The Colourist. Additionally, the band has previously been named MTV’s Artist To Watch and one of Alternative Press’ “100 Bands You Need to Know.”
Inside a Dream is the band’s first release after the departure of guitarist and older brother Jamie Sierota. Bassist Noah Sierota explains: “We had to find ourselves as a trio instead of a quartet” and vocalist Sydney Sierota added that the departure “literally forced us on a journey of having to discover this sound. We still had electric guitars, but they weren’t the center of the music anymore.” The trio improvised by using a combination of vintage synths, keys, and drum machines to bring the vision of their new sound to life.
