Earlier this month British songstress Alex Mills made her solo debut with the release of the single “Be Somebody” via a trio of hot international labels; Ultra Music, Neon and Disco-Wax. Since receiving over 200k streams on Spotify, the radio-ready record is now accompanied by an upbeat choreography-centric music video set in the streets of New York City.

Inspired by the golden days of NYC and 90’s Vogue culture, the video follows a vivacious dancer grooving through the concrete jungle streets of the city that never sleeps – prancing through subway cars, shimmying down bustling blocks from Chinatown to Manhattan, and twirling past colorful street art. A perfect compliment to the retro-sounding track which is a tribute to Ruffneck’s 90s house classic “Everybody Be Somebody,” the music video is visually influenced by 90s classic film “Paris is Burning” and creates a nostalgic vibe channeling the track’s old school energy.
Coined the ‘producer’s choice’ of vocalist by the world’s biggest dance music publication Mixmag, budding vocalist Alex Mills first joined the Ultra Music family with last summer’s collaboration alongside Hot Since 82 “The Core.” The London-based artist has worked with a slew of notable artists in the past, ranging from heavyweights like Basement Jaxx and UK grime pioneer Wiley, to underground heroes like Lee Foss and Chris Lorenzo. With 2016 being her biggest year to date including a worldwide publishing deal with electronic hitmakers Ministry Of Sound, Alex Mills will continue her rise in the new year with a slew of more original releases, tour dates, and star-studded collaborations on the way.
